Student Success Story: Two Sisters, One Goal, and a Future They’re Building Together

This month, we are proud to celebrate the success of two Fentress County graduates, sisters Amber and Beth Choate.

Amber and Beth decided it was time to earn their high school diplomas, and they chose to take on the journey together. They attended class together, studied together, supported one another, and ultimately graduated together.

Their journey, however, did not end with their diplomas.

Both sisters have continued their education and have successfully passed the HESI prerequisite exam for the nursing program. This fall, they will begin the nursing program, taking another important step toward the careers and futures they have worked so hard to build.

Amber shared what this accomplishment means to her:

“They say it takes a village, but sometimes it just takes a sister. I am so happy to officially be graduates with my best friend.”

For these young women, earning their diplomas was not always easy. They faced obstacles and challenges along the way that could have caused them to give up. Instead, they continued to show up, put in the work, and encourage one another through the difficult days.

Beth reflected on what earning her diploma represents:

“It may not be much to some, but for me it’s everything. It proves that I can do hard things even while balancing motherhood and everything else. It represents late-night sacrifices and a promise kept to myself and my boys.”

Their story is a reminder that success does not always happen quickly or easily. Sometimes it takes determination, sacrifice, perseverance, and someone beside you who believes in you when things get difficult.

We are incredibly proud of Amber and Beth—not only for earning their high school diplomas, but for the determination they have shown and the goals they continue to pursue.
